Good for you Luke. Looks like you'll be rolling in maters soon!
Here's today's picking. Few types tomatoes (planted way too many, eating them morning noon and night), some cukes, zucchini, peppers- broccoli and chard in the fridge. Will cut some eggplant tomorrow and pull some more beets. That'll probably be the last of the zuchhini for us. Hope I did this right, first time I ever tried posting a pic. |
Re: Our First Tomato
I got plenty of really nice okra (ate some tonight, cooked with some of my tomatoes), and lots of jalepenos and cayenne peppers. My serano peppers and bell peppers never really took off. I got two bell peppers total. My cucumbers flowered and vined like crazy but never produced fruit. My eggplant and pole beans were planted really late, and the heat got to them. My tomatoes were all very tiny, ranging in size from the diameter of a nickel up to a quarter. No big ones, but I got a lot of tiny ones and they were very tasty, and they are still producing (barely).
The failures don't discourage me. They just make me want to try again. |
Re: Our First Tomato
Doesn't look good for the tomatoes here in Michigan, too cool this year hasn't even came close to 90. Where is that warming when you need it?

Re: Our First Tomato
Lots of tomatoes, lettuce, cukes, and squash, here. Potatoes ready, too. Beans and peas already harvested and 2nd planting of melons in where they were.
I'm surprised I was harvesting here in Chicago before you are in New Mexico. Seems odd. |
Re: Our First Tomato
How can you tell if an eggplant is ready to harvest? Mine have stayed the same size for weeks and I occasionally cut one open and it it remains green inside.
